Camp Descriptions:
Getting Started Series - Young Gun Camps - Levels I and II:
Level I camps are designed to be more recreational
and developmental. They are for boys and girls going into grades 4 to 8. Volleyball
is only one of the sports that will be played during the week. The kids will
get exposure to the skills of the games and have some fun while improving
their game and overall motor abilities.
Level II is for the more serious players in this age group
who want to learn to play volleyball so they can try out successfully for
their school team or for a club team. The camp will be all volleyball - skills,
drills, team play, games and modified games.
Make the Team Series - Top Gun Camps:
For boys and girls going into grades 9 to 12. The players will be
beginners or will have some playing experience at other camps, at school or
with a club. One of their goals may be to successfully tryout
for the school team and/or tryout for a club team in the
fall.
Stepping Up Series - Gold Medal Camps and Game Time Camps:
Gold Medal Camps are 3-day camps for boys and girls playing club
volleyball who want to, or need to improve their overall skills, wish to make
a position change (for example, from power to setter) or just feel that they
are not improving as much or as quickly as they would like in order to contribute
more to their team. These camps have high contact volume and are more intense
and focused.
Game Time Camps are 2-day camps for club girls who need to
improve their game play. Some players may not be getting the opportunity to
play much at the tournaments as they would like; some are struggling with
performing well at the ends of games or in the pressure moments; and some
players will just want to get better by playing faster. The drills will be
fast paced with minimal instruction to maximize contact frequency. These camps
will be offered at the Christmas and March Break holidays only.
Starting Six Series - Swing to Win (Watch
Video), Set to Win (Watch
Video), Serve to Win and Pass to Win (Watch
Video)
These Camps are 2-day or 3-day specialty camps that focus on the
skills development specific to these key skill areas. These camps are for
those athletes who understand that they need to improve their skills in order
to make the starting six or to stay on the starting six.

TUTORING
APPOINTMENTS AVAILABLE IN AUGUST At Victory we offer tutoring for individuals and small groups.* Tutoring instruction is for players whose performance in practice and games is not as good or as consistent as the player, the coach or the parent would like it to be. Victory helps your child take that next step by developing the key skills in the areas of passing, attacking, defending, serving and setting. Instruction is geared to age, ability, position played and experience. We tutor beginners as well as many of the top age group players in Ontario. If you cannot find a Victory camp that fits into your schedule then tutoring may be a viable alternative. With club and school tryouts coming up soon it is advisable get started in August. To arrange a tutoring date and time,
contact rick@victoryvolleyball.com.
In the initial email please include some date and time possibilities.
Information on tutoring rates and policies is available here.

Key Volleyball Skills include: movement skills,
passing skills, volleying and setting skills, floor defence skills, blocking
skills, transitional movement, arm swing mechanics for attacking and serving,
footwork development for attacking, speed and power development and team play.
NOTE TO PARENTS:
Unlike other camps, all Victory camps are instruction based
and include team play as a part of the curriculum. Other camps/leagues offer
a playing format with limited instruction and are primarily based on “having
fun”, so at the end of the session the participant has had fun, but the key
volleyball skills remain undeveloped. Victory camps are designed to improve
the key skills of passing, attacking, serving, setting, digging, blocking
and team play. Having fun is important but the main focus at Victory is on
skill development which requires listening and focusing, with repeated trials,
leading to success. The fun comes with the confidence that grows from being
a good player and making the school or club team of the player’s choice. Thus,
Victory camps may not be suitable for all children.
